My grandma used to make this dish well. I had forgotten all about it until today and all of a sudden i'm flooded with the wonderful memory of her kitchen and the aroma lingers in my mind.Nostalgic  i must say.... anyway ....this is how she used to put it together.

Ingredients :

nellikkai /  amla (de-seeded and quartered/crushed lightly) about half a cup
  one medium size onion minced
one - two green chillies[according to your choice of fire] slit
  curryleaves a sprig
  half a teaspoon mustard seeds
  turmeric , salt , oil

Method :

1). Heat kadai ,add oil ,when hot add the curry leaves, mustard seeds ,green chillies and then the onions  till it turns a light pink.
2).Add a little turmeric, then add the crushed amla and stir it adding a little salt.then add the rice and mix well and serve .

*Adding of additional garnishes optional according to your choice.

Bon  Apetit!
