My grandma used to make this dish well. I had forgotten all about it until today and all of a sudden i'm flooded with the wonderful memory of her kitchen and the aroma lingers in my mind.Nostalgic i must say.... anyway ....this is how she used to put it together.
Ingredients :
cooked rice about a cup
nellikkai / amla (de-seeded and quartered/crushed lightly) about half a cup
one medium size onion minced
one - two green chillies[according to your choice of fire] slit
curryleaves a sprig
half a teaspoon mustard seeds
turmeric , salt , oil
Method :
1). Heat kadai ,add oil ,when hot add the curry leaves,mustard seeds ,green chillies and then the onions till it turns a light pink.
2).Add a little turmeric,then add the crushed amla and stir it adding a little salt.then add the rice and mix well and serve .
*Adding of additional garnishes optional according to your choice.
